Have you ever wondered about the "House Ambassadors" and "Friends of the House" of Chanel that are frequently mentioned in their news section, always invited to every event and sometimes even headline the latest ad campaign? Well we started wondering and did a deep dive to find out who they are, how they got there, why we care and who can be one.It turns out the ambassadors range from Hollywood A-listers like Margot Robbie all the way to K-Pop singers like Minji who is the most recent selection. There is definitely some nepotism involved with Johnny Depp's daughter Lily Rose, Mick Jagger's daughter Georgia May, Andie MacDowell's daughter Margaret Qualley and Will & Jada's daughter Willow. Their primary responsibility is to be a marketing tool for the luxury house with most ambassadors being part of a category, for example brand ambassador of Chanel Watches, Chanel Jewelry, Chanel Perfume, Chanel Sunglasses, etc.Kristen Stewart, Nicole Kidman and Penelope Cruz are probably the most recognizable and active celebrity ambassadors, but lesser known names use the title to help improve their celebrity visibility with all six of the Korean House Ambassadors recently featured on the cover of Korean ELLE Magazine. They also get paid an average of around $60,000 a year which isn't much for a seasoned celebrity, but a nice salary for someone like Whitney Peak who was only 18 when she was chosen because of her work in the Gossip Girl revamp.The information about "the perks" of free clothing, etc. varies from house to house but I've read Chanel gives a stipend to spend at their stores, honors you with an ambassador ring to wear and dresses you for events. Some ambassadors are signed to an exclusivity contract where they can only be seen or photographed wearing Chanel. Because they are such a private company we will never know the true extent of gifts or benefits, but one can only image.The bottom line, most ambassadors have the luxury of wearing beautiful clothing, showing up to glamorous hosted events and making sure they are photographed to raise brand awareness. Who wouldn't want this title and all that comes with it. Everyone considers it an honor to be chosen by Chanel to be a brand ambassador or to be called a friend of the house
